# Errors

> Shared error body and common status codes.

Error responses use a shared JSON body:

```

Common status codes across endpoints:

* `400` — invalid or incomplete input (for example, missing required date bounds)
* `401` — authentication failed
* `403` — authenticated but not allowed to access the resource
* `429` — rate limit exceeded (for endpoints with a quota)
* `5xx` — unexpected server error; retry with backoff when safe
